The Pieta and Christus:
Two of the most talented sculptors ever were commissioned to portray the Savior's death and resurrection in these magnificent statues. They depict the most profound events in the earth's history, the Savior's death and resurrection. Also interesting that both were carved out of Italian Carrara Marble; the Pieta by Michelangelo was completed in 1499, and the Christus by Thorvaldsen 334 years later in 1833. The Pieta's height is just over 6 feet, and the Christus is 12 feet tall. The Pieta is housed in St. Peter's basilica in Rome, and the Christus in the Church of Our Lady in Copenhagen, Denmark.

One does not have to go to Jerusalem to get a testimony of the Savior, but in my case the experience added immensely to the one I already had. One of the highlights was to see the garden tomb, regardless of some opinions and scientific data of it not being the original. To know we were in the area where the Savior taught, performed miracles, suffered, died, and was resurrected was life changing.
